Violet J. Vogel, 89, of Tonica passed away after a short illness on February 14, 2025, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A mass will be said in her name at Holy Family Church in Oglesby at a later date. Burial will take place at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Leonore at a later date. The Hurst Funeral Home in Tonica has been entrusted with her arrangements.
Mrs. Vogel was born in Underwood, ND on January 19, 1936 to John and Bertha (Newmiller) Presser. She married Joseph Krebsbach on July 16, 1955, and he preceded her in death in April of 1973. She then married Dale W. Vogel on January 30, 1976 at St. John the Baptist Church in Lostant. Mrs. Vogel graduated from Washburn High School in 1954. She worked at IVCH in the physical therapy and inhalation departments. She then worked at Walgreens in Peru until her retirement in 1989.
Mrs. Vogel was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, St. Anne's Sodality, where she volunteered with the pancake and sausage breakfast and the salad luncheons, Tonica Social Club, and Red Hat Society. She was an avid reader. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, and sewing-especially sewing new clothes for her goose. She loved spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Vogel is survived by her husband Dale of Tonica; four children: Deborah Ann Gallup of La Salle, Tracy (Sharon) Krebsbach of Peru, Joel (Bonnie) Krebsbach of La Salle, and Terrie Jo (Joseph) Carstens of Bloomington; fifteen grandchildren; thirty-two great grandchildren; sixteen great-great grandchildren and one more on the way; one sister Loretta Roe of Albuquerque, NM; nieces; and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Joe, her son Troy Krebsbach, two brothers Sylvester and Elton "Curly" Presser, one grandson Joey, and two great grandchildren.
Memorials may be directed to The Parkinson's Foundation, the American Cancer Society, or the American Heart Association.
