Wilburn "Buck" Eugene Sims July 18, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Wilburn "Buck" Eugene Sims, 77, passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Bristol Regional Medical Center following a brief illness.
Buck was born in Scott Co. VA, in 1946, and lived most of his life in the Lloyds Chapel community. He enjoyed fishing, squirrel hunting, and he was a very good cook. Buck was a very loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and his family was his whole world. He was a friend to all he met and would do anything for anyone.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 2022, Carol Ann Orfield Sims; parents, Garnet, and Marie "Reedy" Graham Sims; grandsons, Shawn Bear, and Hosea White; daughter, Tonia Sims; sisters, Reba, Mildred, and Sylvia "Cootie"; and his brothers, Vernon and Willis.
Buck is survived by his daughter, Sonya Sims Marsh (Blake); grandchildren, Teneea Bear, Isaiah Bear, Zoey and Kyler Drinnon, and Letty and Molly Worrall; great grandchildren, Urijah White, and Arian and Dixie Byrd; step grandchildren, Aria and Greyson Marsh; sister, Linda Manis; brother, Jr. Sims; special friend, Peggy Hundley; as well as many dear nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on Monday, July 22, 2024, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. A graveside service will follow in procession to Mount Mitchell Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Matthew Drinnon, Kyler Drinnon, Jr. Sims, David Long, Ricky Sims, Blake Marsh, Mike Graham, and Walt Graham Jr.
