William Mitchell "Bill" Blevins June 3, 1943 - July 31, 2024
COEBURN, VIRGINIA - William Mitchell "Bill" Blevins, 81, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bristol, Tennessee.
He was born in Carfax, Virginia, the son of the late Ira Mitchell and Panna Ruth Casteel Blevins. He was preceded in death by five brothers, Palmer Blevins, Lonnie Blevins, Allen Blevins, David Blevins, and Rader Blevins; and two sisters, Beulah Hamm and Esther Shepard.
Bill, as most knew him, attended Dry Fork Freewill Baptist Church in Coeburn, Virginia, and was a retired coal miner. He enjoyed muscle cars and working with his wife at their restaurant, Bonanza in Wise, Virginia. He also enjoyed Horticulture, was the master of repairing anything, and enjoyed decorating for Christmas with inflatables.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Blevins; one daughter, Mandy Castle and husband, Jeff; one son, Chris Blevins and wife, Ashley; three granddaughters, Brittney Horne, Candace Castle, and Alyssa Castle; three great-grandchildren, Ashtyn Horne, Mollie Horne, and Jasper Strange Castle; two sisters, Shirley Hamilton and Judy Berry; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services for William Mitchell "Bill" Blevins will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Castlewood Funeral Home Chapel, Castlewood, Virginia with Rev. Bill Crawford officiating. Committal Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at Temple Hill Memorial Park in Castlewood, Virginia. Family and friends will meet at the funeral home and go in procession to the cemetery leaving at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Jeff Castle, Sam Blevins, Tony Blevins, Gary Blevins, Jerry Blevins, Steve Hamilton, Jeff Spangler, and Wayne Blevins. Honorary Pallbearers will be the men of Dry Fork Freewill Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Monday, August 5, 2024, at Castlewood Funeral Home, Castlewood, Virginia.
