NICKELSVILLE, VA – William "Billy" Thomas Byington, born on September 16th, 1973, went home to be with the Lord on February 4th, 2024. He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and kindness.
Billy is preceded in death by his father, Carlye Byington. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Kelleigh Byington; mother, Alma Ragle Byington; daughter, Brooke Bowman (Ethan); sister, Kendra Lynch (Larry); and life-long friend, Jerry "Flip" Vicars.
Billy was a true son of Nickelsville, VA, where he was raised and spent his life. Growing up on the family farm, he learned the value of hard work and dedication. From tending tobacco fields to raising cows, Billy was deeply connected to the land and the animals. He was a member of Nickelsville First Baptist Church.
His career in construction took him all over the South, but it was in Pensacola, FL, after Hurricane Ivan, that he met the love of his life, Kelleigh. Their bond was unbreakable, and together they shared countless adventures.
Billy's heart was as big as the open fields he roamed. He was generous, always willing to lend a helping hand or give someone the shirt off his back. His infectious smile and warm personality made him the life of any gathering. Billy never met a stranger; he had a way of making everyone feel like an old friend.
He was a master of the flat foot, tapping out rhythms that echoed the pulse of the earth. But his love extended beyond the farm and the dance floor. Billy developed a passion for world travel, exploring new cultures and savoring life's rich tapestry.
A good Rye and shine was his drink of choice, and he could often be found enjoying the lively tunes of a piano bar. Hardworking and devoted, Billy's legacy lives on in the hearts of those who knew him. His contagious spirit and huge heart will be dearly missed.
Billy, your memory will forever dance through the fields and echo in the laughter of friends and family.
The family will receive friends from 12-2 PM on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Nickelsville First Baptist Church. Service will be held at 2 PM with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Music will be provided by the Addington Family.
Interment will follow at Temple Hill Memorial Park. Wendel Burke, Neil Robinson, Chris Repass, Scott Odle, Andy Goss, Jeff Gray, Michael Ashworth, and Ethan Bowman will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jerry "Flip" Vicars, Darrell Meade, Lowell Hammonds, Bobby Joe Finch, Dan Burke and John Michael Byerley.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to Holston Home for Children, 401 Holston Dr, Greeneville, TN 37743.

I had worked under Billy's supervision for the last 5 years at Summers Taylor, he came a few short months after I'd started in 2017, from the get go he was a easy going, superior, he made sure to do his best to keep us busy, he always had answers and solutions and kept alot of jobs running and on track. In the 14 years that i have been the construction industry I have never had a project manager as great as Billy was, he was always pinching poking smiling and cutting up with everyone from the moment he showed up untill the time he left. I hope each and every one of you remember him for the man that he was and cherish all of his memories, he was a great one. Rest easy Billy.

I offer my most heartfelt condolences to Billy's family and to all who knew and loved him. While Billy is gone, he leaves with us a profound Legacy. A legacy of kindness, generosity, grace, and the definition of friendship. His legacy is a Model. A model to which we should all aspire...but a model that precious few of us can hope to attain.
Goodbye, my dear 'brother'.

We had our disagreements at work but always circled back to the common cause. Billy was a great man and I wish we had spent more out-of-work time together. Taken way too soon for those of left behind to understand but God has his plans and "only the good die young". Thoughts and prayers for family and friends in this time of sorrow.

I always liked Billy and enjoyed the family Christmas gatherings. Billy had a great humor and I always got a kick out of him. The first time I remember ever being on a horse was with Billy when he rode me double up the hill so he could check on some cattle. I was scared to death, but it was just everyday for Billy. I’ll miss him. Praying for Kelleigh, Alma, and Brooke, as well as the rest of the family.
