Bill Christian, age 83, of Kingsport, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, March 29, 2025 after a brief illness at home, surrounded by his family.
Bill was born on August 17, 1941 in Gate City, Virginia to the late Harvey and Callie Christian. He loved his family, friends, and church, Sunnyside Baptist, where he was a faithful member and served in various ministries. Bill owned and operated B&J Auto Parts for 25 years. He always treated his customers as family and friends. Bill loved the outdoors; 4-wheeling, hiking and watching the deer running and playing in the yard.
He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. His grandchildren were the joy of his life. He loved people and never met a stranger.
Bill was preceded in death by his son, Michael Christian and brother, Bob Christian.
He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Jo Ann Christian; daughter and son-in-law, Suzanne and Greg Stanley; daughter-in-law, Della Christian; grandchildren, Heather Stanley Day (Charles), Matthew Stanley, Aaron Christian (Beverly), and Will Christian (Gabby); great-grandchildren, Kinley and Thomas Day and Emma Stanley; sister, Carole Akers; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 from 5pm – 7pm at Sunnyside Baptist Church. A funeral service will follow at 7pm with Dr. David Luster officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10am on Wednesday, April 2, 2025 at Oak Hill Memorial Park with Dr. Bill Sims officiating.
Pallbearers will be members of the Usher Team at Sunnyside Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunnyside Baptist Church Building fund, 406 Cooks Valley Rd, Kingsport, TN 37664.
