KINGSPORT - Cora Marie Trent, age 85 of Kingsport, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, and was reunited with her husband, on Saturday, June 3, 2023. Cora was born on September 6, 1937, in Hamblen County, TN to Dewey and Ollie Horner. On November 30, 1957, Cora married her most cherished friend, Doyle Trent, and after 62 years of a beautiful life together and raising a family, Doyle preceded her in death on January 2, 2020.
Cora worked as a cosmetologist, and she loved her family. Cora was a member of First Baptist Church of Church Hill, and she was a devout Christian. She enjoyed cooking, coloring, walking and reading. Cora will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and church family.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Doyle; three brothers; and two sisters. Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Jamie Byington and husband Jim, and Kelly Biggerstaff and husband David; grandchildren, Ethan Byington, Emma Byington, Joshua Biggerstaff and wife Hannah, and Lucas Biggerstaff; one great grandchild on the way, "Baby B"; three sisters, Edith Harris, Shirley Miller, and Ann Elmore and husband Wayne; and many loving nieces, nephews, and other family members.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the caregivers at Steadman Hill and Amedisys Hospice.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, June 8, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Carter Trent Funeral Home Kingsport. A funeral service will follow at 7:00 pm with Dr. Clay Austin officiating.
