JOHNSON CITY - Damos Leonard Grogg, Sr. age 93 of Johnson City, Tennessee passed away on September 16, 2025. He was born to the late Sam and Melissa Grogg of Kingsport, Tennessee. He was a Navy Seaman 3rd Class. Damos was lifelong member of Boones Creek Baptist Church. He was a devout Christian who loved to study God's Word.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Hazel Ramona Grogg; siblings: Sevier Grogg, Juanita Calloway, Andrew Grogg, Georgia Calloway, Thelma Venable, Olivette Fletcher, Keener Grogg, Beulah Haynes, and Lewis Grogg.
Survivors include sons, Lenny and Fain Grogg; grandchildren: Justin, Nicholas, and Ben Grogg, as well as several nieces and nephews. Also surviving Brian Shanesy of Norfolk, Virginia.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Morris-Baker Funeral Home, from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. A funeral service will be immediately following at 7:00pm with Rev. Curtis Hurt and Rev. Jody Jenkins officiating. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, September 23, 2025 at 11:00am in Washington County Memorial Gardens.

My husband and I remember Damos from the jewelry he sold. I believe he also directed the music at Boones Creek Baptist Church. He was blessed with a long life. But that doesn´t fill the loss his family feels. God bless all of you with comfort and peace. Helen & Bartley Sparks

I so much enjoyed the many conversations we shared and his wisdom in helping me get closer to the lord by sharing his knowledge as wisdom ofthe bible with me. His love for his wife and children was also the topic of many of our conversations we had as I helped carre for him in his final years.
I became very attached to Damos as did my wife, who would also come visit him at the VA, we grew to love him very much. I know he is rejoicing in heaven with his beloved wife, and standing proudly with our lord and savior as he was one of his strongest soldiers.
He loved his sons, and to you I send my prayers and love for your father. He was a very special man.
