KINGSPORT - Charles Douglas Carson, 83, of Kingsport, died Monday, March 11, 2024. Born in Fall Branch where he graduated from Fall Branch High School in 1958. He attended Emory & Henry College and was a graduate of ETSU. Doug served in the U.S. Army for 20 years and retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1983. He was the current longest active member of Fall Branch United Methodist Church. He joined the church in 1956 and served in numerous leadership positions. Doug married his sweetheart, Lynn Carson on December 14, 1963 and went to Germany where he started his military career.
Doug was preceded in death by his wife, Lynn Carson; son, Clint Carson; and parents, Max and Eula Baxter Carson.
Survivors include several cousins and many long-time friends.
Visitation for Doug will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. at Fall Branch United Methodist Church. Funeral services will begin at 11:30 a.m. with Rev. Dr. David Tully officiating.
Military graveside services will be conducted at Mountain Home National Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 20th with military honors by the American Legion Posts 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fall Branch United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 86, Fall Branch, TN 37656.
