KINGSPORT - Evelyn Irene Ramey, 85, of Kingsport passed away peacefully at the Wexford House on Friday, February 13, 2026. She was a child of God and we know that she is no longer in pain and happy in his presence. Evelyn has blessed many over the years with her poems inspired by God which she was proud of but quick to tell you that she could not do it herself.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ramey; parents, Rev. Simon Mowdy and Annabelle Sherfey Mowdy; brothers, Ernest, Clyde, James, and Howard Mowdy; sisters, Mary Lou Odham, Avia Adams, Bertie McCloud, Leda Clonce, Lettie, Hammonds; and Ruby Odham.
Survivors include her brother, Cecil Mowdy and wife Shirley; along with several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
A graveside service will be conducted at 12pm on Thursday, February 19, 2026, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Jonathan Coffey officiating. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 am.
