Helen Delorres Bishop August 9, 1944- July 4, 2024
CHURCH HILL - Helen Delorres Bishop, 79, of Church Hill, TN went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ Thursday, July 4, 2024.
She was born August 9, 1944, in Scott County, VA to the late Wrightly and Janie Taylor Smith.
Helen was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who made family her main priority.
She was a committed Christian and member of First Presbyterian Church, Gate City, VA and attended Valley Center United Methodist Church.
Helen was a beautician for forty years, retiring at the age of seventy.
She enjoyed supporting Benny in his ministry endeavors, making dolls, and gardening.
Helen was always "upbeat" and positive regardless of the circumstances.
In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her son, Bartholomew "Bart" Bishop; brothers, Kent Smith, Ralph Smith, and Dwayne Smith.
Those left to cherish Helen's memory are her loving husband, Rev. Benny Bishop; daughter, Abby Black (Justin); son, Ben Bishop (Erica); ten grandchildren; siblings, Ward Smith, Dale Smith, Valerie Fisher, Janet Kennedy, and Larry Smith; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends Monday, July 8, 2024, 1:00-2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel.
A Celebration of Life Service will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Carol Alley of the Valley Center UMC officiating. Assisted by Pastor Joel Wooten, and Pastor Tim Wooten.
Entombment Service will follow at 3:00 pm in Mausoleum III at Oak Hill Memorial Park. Serving as honorary pallbearers, Basil Simpson, Ronald Fraser, Justin Black, and Matthew Bishop.
