SCOTT COUNTY, VA - James Creed "JC" Fraley, age 94 of Scott County, VA completed his earthly adventure on Thursday, February 26, 2026, and he continues his eternal journey. JC was born on July 17, 1931, in Scot County, VA to Ottis and Ercil Fraley. JC was a veteran of the United States Army and he served in Bamberg, Germany from 1952-1954, and he was a deacon of Salley's Chapel Church. He retired from Greenland Glass Plant after 31 years of dedicated service.
JC was known as everyone's handyman and he enjoyed woodworking, especially building bird houses and other carpentry work.
JC was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 64 years, Emma Gene Fraley; four sisters, Virginia Kilgore, Anna Vicars, Sue Fraley, and Alma Dougherty; two brothers, Bill Fraley, and Ted Fraley. Those left to cherish his memory are his son, Randall Fraley and wife, Tammy; daughter, Renee Wooten and husband, Randy; four grandchildren, Brandon Fraley and fiancée Olivia Compton, Amanda Borders and husband, Ben, Dustin Wooten and wife, Ashley, and Katie Wooten; one brother, Sammy Fraley and wife, Elsie; and special friends, Beverly Fields, and Robin Jessee.
The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to caregiver Barb Krieps.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Salley's Chapel Church, located at 134 Chapel Street, Weber City, VA 24290.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 2, 2026, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home in Weber City. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 pm with Pastor George Winegar officiating. A graveside will follow at Holston View Cemetery. JC's family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
