James Skelton Obituary
CHURCH HILL - James E. Skelton, 89, of Church Hill passed away at NHC Healthcare after a brief illness.
James proudly served his country in the United States Army and retired from AFG Glass after 33 years of service. He loved to work and fix things as well as mowing his yard and restoring old cars and tractors.
James is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Tessie Skelton, sister and brother-in-law, Geraldine and Newt W. Hurd; brother-in law, Donnie Davis of Knoxville.
James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Jeanette Skelton; sisters, Katie Davis of Knoxville, TN, and Debbie Phipps (John Brooks) of Church Hill, TN; niece and nephews, Sheri Stewardson (Jeff) of Knoxville, Gerald Hurd (Aimee), and Randy Hurd; and great-nephews, Colby Hurd, Avery Hurd (MaKayla), and Grayson Hurd.
A visitation will be held from 12:00 – 2:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel at 2:00 PM with Pastor Randy Perciful officiating. A military graveside service will follow in procession to Elm Springs Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers will be friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Elm Springs Community Church.
