Jerry Skeens Obituary
CHURCH HILL - Jerry Lou Skeens, age 88 of Church Hill, TN went to be with the Lord Monday, July 24, 2023, at Hospice House in Bristol, TN. She was the daughter of the late Frank George Wood and Lois Stapleton Wood.
She was a loving Mother, homemaker, and an avid square dancer. She was of the Christian faith. Jerry had been employed at Kingsport Press.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of over 60 years, Fred Skeens; brothers, Thomas Vernon Wood, Robert J. Wood, and Jack Wood.
Jerry is survived by her son, Rick Skeens (Tammy Britt); sister, Linda Wood Brock; brother, Lawrence E. Wood (Fran).
The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, Thursday, July 27, 2023, at Colonial Funeral Home, Weber City, VA. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Holston View Cemetery with Butch Stapleton officiating. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Mary Collier, Hospice nurse.

Jerry Lou was always such a sweet and friendly person. She was always so nice to me and I will never forget our talks when I saw her at Food City. I am going to miss you but I know you are in a much better place. My condolences to Ricky, Eddie, Linda and all the Family.

Goodbye to my dear, dear friend. I will miss you but I know you are in Heaven and finally out of pain. Jerry and Fred blessed us with their friendship when we first moved to Tennessee many, many years ago. We were homesick and they came to our rescue and helped with our transition to our new home. Rick and family, we wish you our sympathy.

To the Skeens family, I’m sorry to hear about Gerrys passing. She was a wonderful lady. Always her same sweet self whenever I saw her. I saw her at mountain empire home craft days this past fall. We had a really good visit. I worked with Fred at FC. Loved them both dearly! Thinking of you all.

I have very fond memories of my Dad taking me and my sister to Carter Fold growing up. The best part of the night was watching my Aunt Jerry and Uncle Fred dancing. They are reunited now dancing again. Love you all.
