John Mark Holtzclaw

February 24, 2026

John Mark Holtzclaw, age 56, passed away on February 24, 2026. John was born on October 6, 1969, at Holston Valley Community Hospital in Kingsport, Tennessee. He made his profession of faith on July 3, 1977, at Poplar Grove Baptist Church in Owenton, Kentucky.

John was the son of Tommy and Sandra Holtzclaw of Kingsport, Tn. John was a member of the golf team and graduated from Dobyns Bennett High School in 1987. During this time, he obtained the rank of Eagle Scout. He also played on the golf team at Georgetown College in Kentucky. He had been living in Denver, Colorado up to the time of his passing.

John is preceded in death by his sweet mother Sandra Kingston Holtzclaw. He is survived by his father Tommy (Ann) Holtzclaw, his sister Hannah (James) Hanson, his sister Sarah (Tom IV) LaGuardia, his brother Joel (Amanda Leeann) Holtzclaw. John loved his many nieces and nephews: Ben, Tyler, Macy, Austin, Molly, Emma, Sara, Asia, Mary, Ethan and Sam.

John will be remembered for his love of the mountains and his smile.

A Graveside Committal Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at East Lawn Memorial Park, 4997 Memorial Blvd, Kingsport, TN 37664, in the Garden of Eternal Life I, with Mitch Whisnant officiating.

East Lawn Funeral Home and Memorial Park are honored to take care of Mr. John Holtzclaw's family at this time.
