Joyce Ann Salyer Farmer December 5, 1943- April 1, 2024 GATE CITY, VA - On Monday, April 1, 2024, Joyce Ann Salyer Farmer, loving wife, precious mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of Jesus Christ our Lord passed away at the age of 80.
Joyce was born on December 5, 1943, in Scott County, VA, to the late Will Sutton Salyer, and Stella Marie (Kiser) Salyer.
Joyce was happiest when busy, and was hard working all her life, and had a quick wit. She enjoyed her flower, herb, and vegetable gardens, gardening, reading, and playing ball. Joyce enjoyed crossword puzzles and had a talent for jigsaw puzzles. She absolutely loved and enjoyed housework, cooking, cleaning, doing laundry, mopping floors, washing windows and curtains, doing yard work, farming, taking care of the animals, canning vegetables, and jellies, as she was always busy and could think up more things to do than any person on the planet.
In addition to her parents, her sisters, Lila Salyer, Denna Hillman, Judy Bledsoe; and brothers, Leon, Dave, Eugene, Bill, Joe, and Larry Salyer preceded her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 61 years, Bobby Farmer; daughters, Shari Williams and husband, Vernon, and Melissa Farmer; grandchildren, Jared Williams, and Lauren Williams; sisters, Linda Kugler, and Estelita Dougherty; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00a.m., Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Salyer Family Cemetery, Midway Community, of Gate City, VA, with Rev. Janet Sweet officiating. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery at 10:45a.m., for the graveside service.
