Kimberly "Kim" Dianne Hunter

Kimberly Dianne Hunter, 59, passed away Thursday, February 26, 2026, at Kernersville Medical Center. Kim was born on October 31, 1966, in Kingsport, TN to Wallace and Margaret Short Little. She had a love for children and was a caregiver at heart, leading her into a career in Early Childhood Education. Kim cared for many children in her home and worked as a teacher at Sedge Garden UMC Preschool, as well as an Assistant Teacher at Sedge Garden Elementary and Sherwood Elementary School all while obtaining her degree at UNC-Greensboro. She then followed her dream to be a Teacher at Sedge Garden and Petree Elementary Schools. Kim was a strong, down-to-earth woman, who would stop at nothing when she could help her family, friends and especially her students. She loved her family dearly and will be greatly missed. In addition to her parents, Kim was preceded in death by her brother, Danny Little. Surviving are her husband, Kevin Hunter; her son, Taylor Hunter (Melanie); her daughter, Payton Hunter (Austin Ward); three grandchildren, Hunter Ward, and Owen and Avery Hunter; her sister, Michelle Austin (Mike)and their children, Cooper, Clarke, and Buddy; her sister-in-law, Diane Hunter, and her children, Hannah and Sam; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2026, at Hayworth-Miller Kernersville Chapel. This will be a time of gathering and sharing memories with the family.
