Ronald Ward Obituary

Ronald "Ronnie" Ray Ward, 77, of Greeneville, TN, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family and friends.
In his younger years, Ronald enjoyed time with friends, golf, and sports of all kinds. He worked for 33 years at Magnavox/Five Rivers, where he made many lifelong friends.
A devoted member of Mount Bethel Free Will Baptist Church while his health permitted, Ronald's quiet faith and steady spirit were a source of comfort to all who knew him.
As a father and grandfather, he offered wise counsel, steady love, and a strong example. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched with grit, compassion, and care.
Ronald is survived by his loving wife, JoAnn Ward; children Tammy Shelton of Greeneville and Teresa (Anthony) Shelton of Warner Robins, GA; and Tracy Solomon (Jennifer Roche) of Greeneville. He was a proud grandfather to Brandon (Chelsea) Bailey, Bryan (Caroline) Shelton, Colby Shelton, AJ Shelton, Morgan Shelton, and Emma Shelton; and great-grandfather to Gracie Bailey, Cade Bailey, and Grayson Shelton.
He is also survived by brothers Coy Ward and Wade (Judy) Ward; sisters Imogene Eikenberry, Barbara (Tim) Mitchell, and Rhonda (Junior) Dobbs; brothers-in-law Carroll Ward and Paul Marsh; sister-in-law Pat Ward; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Vergie Ward, brother Cody Ward, sisters Iva Dell Patterson and Inabell Marsh, and several in-laws.
Special thanks to sister-in-law/caregiver Judy Whorton and the Amedisys Hospice Team for their compassionate support.
Visitation will be held at Horse Creek Church of God on Thursday, May 15, from 5:00-7:00 PM, with a service to follow at 7:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Bobby Morrison. Friends and family are invited to gather in remembrance of a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and laughed without apology.
In remembrance of Ronald, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Horse Creek Church of God, 900 Old Jonesboro Rd., Chuckey, TN 37641. A donation box will also be available during visitation.
Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
