Roshell Alfair Ison

GATE CITY, VA - Roshell Alfair Ison, age 78 of Gate City, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, November 4, 2024. Roshell was born on February 9, 1946, in Kingsport, TN to Clarence and Georgia Williams. Roshell was a 1966 graduate of Lynn View High School. Roshell retired from the Kingsport Press after 30 years of dedicated service, and she attended Gravelly Baptist Church until her illness kept her homebound. On January 6, 1969, Roshell married her most cherished friend, Roy Ison, and after 55 years of a beautiful life together, he survives.

Roshell was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was a wonderful help-meet to her husband and a devoted Christian. Roshell was a wonderful homemaker, and she gave of herself so her family would be without want. She found peace in drawing and painting landscapes, and she enjoyed teaching her granddaughters how to cook.

Roshell was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Ronald Owen Williams. Those left to cherish her memory are her loving and devoted husband, Roy Ison; son, Mark Ison (Lisa); three grandchildren, Caitlyn Shelton (Cole), Megan Ison, and Miley Ison; five sisters, Chevette Dockery (Charles), Ramona Russell (Sam), Sharon Hensley (Archie), Claudell Wilmoth, and Vivian Blankenbeckler (Johnny Horne); and many loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.

The family would like to give a special "Thank You" to the staff of Elite Hospice; especially to Steve, Cynthia, Kayla, Teresa, Jennifer, and Misty.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Scott County Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm with Pastor Justin Smith officiating. Special music will be provided by family friends, Wayne Bledsoe, Amy Bledsoe, and Kala Hale. A graveside will follow at 3:00 pm at Rogers Family Cemetery. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.
