Shelby Mauk Obituary
August 15, 1937 -
Shelby Mauk, born August 15, 1937, was preceded in death by parents James and Virginia Mauk of Surgoinsville Tn, brother, Jerry Mauk (Helen Mauk), of Surgoinsville, Tennessee.
She is survived by her brother, Larry Mauk (Patsy Mauk), of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; nieces, Nancy Mauk and Rebekah Mauk, both of Surgoinsville, Tennessee; nephew, James Mauk (Christina Mauk), of Knoxville, Tennessee; great-nephew, Nicholas Mauk (Kati Mauk); great-nieces, Camille, Anna, and Nora; great-nephews, Elijah, William, Leo, Jakob and Adrian.
Shelby attended Warren Wilson College in North Carolina and earned a master's degree in education from East Tennessee State University. She retired after 30 years as a schoolteacher at Carters Valley Elementary School and Church Hill Elementary School. Shelby enjoyed University of Tennessee football, cats, her two-door cars, gardening, travel, music, and time with her nieces and nephews. She loved listening to music, and her favorite artists included Neil Diamond, the Eagles, and the Beach Boys.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 1, 2026, at Johnson-Arrowood Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 AM on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Carters Valley Cemetery. Those wishing to attend the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 11:15 AM to go in procession to the cemetery.
