Steven Rass Light, originally from the Beech Creek Community, was called home on June 14, 2023, after fighting his illness for two years. Born on January 27, 1959, to his parents, Kermit C. Light and Thelma Morelock Light, who preceded him in death, along with his stepson, Hunter Thacker.
He is survived by two daughters, Kristal Hamilton and Emily Light; one son, Timothy Steven Light and stepdaughter, Haley Ornsby; grandkids, Haley, Hunter, Miracle, Blake, Tatum and Elieana; great-grandson, Kaycee; two sisters, Christine Morelock and Evelyn (Andy) Haney; one brother, Kermit (Bill) Light; one niece, Shawn Morelock; aunt, Polly Burns; and very special friend, Randy Holland.
The family will receive friends Saturday, June 17, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, with Brother Dan Dolen officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Mt. Carmel F.W.B. Church Cemetery. Steve loved riding his Harley, so as many that will, we invited his riding companions to escort him to his final resting place, to meet at 1:15 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

I did not know Steve personally, but we were friends through Facebook. I was sad to hear that he had passed away. He was kind, and he seemed to really care for others. It was clear that he loved his children. My condolences to all who love him. RIP my friend. I hope there are Harley´s in Heaven.
