Debbie, you and your family are in my prayers. I loved working with Ted and him giving me a hard time about dating women. I still have the foreign money he gave me to encourage me to date. He always kept me laughing. I cherish the times we worked together and the wisdom he gave me. I remember seeing you both together.....such a beautiful couple. I know he is in a better place but he will still be missed! God´s love, peace, and comfort to you.

I've had the pleasure of getting to know and work with Ted and Debbie for the past five years. I enjoyed hearing about their travels, and would walk away from our meetings with a new destination to research and add to my list. Ted always had a smile, and spoke in a way that was clear he loved life, and was proud of his family. Very hands on in projects, and took interest in finding ways to solve a problem. I feel extremely blessed to have met with him this November, and will never forget the story he shared with me that day that made me laugh. Debbie and Family- Keeping you in my prayers, and hope to learn more and share stories in the future.

I have many wonderful memories of Ted, both at Eastman and at Waverley Presbyterian Church.
At Eastman, he was my group leader in 1995, shortly after I had started there. On a visit by him to Cornell University, he identified an opportunity to use their technology in nanocomposites to fashion a polymer based resin for plastic beer bottles. My involvement in this project, initiated by him, resulted in more than 20 US patents. After my departure from Eastman to teach at King University, he was a big help in the securing of a sponsorship by Eastman of the Eastman Student Award Competition in Applied Polymer Science for the PMSE division of the American Chemical Society. In this award competition, which serves as a major encouragement to young polymer scientists and engineers, the top presentation by a PhD graduate in the field of polymer technology is selected each year. Ted frequently helped judge the papers submitted in this competition.
At Waverly Road Presbyterian Church, Ted has been a major encouragement for our family. He frequently led Adult Sunday School classes in which my wife and I were involved. Often he and his wife would open up their home for our churchwide picnic. He and his family have been active in Christian ministry around the world.
Ted was a wonderful, caring person, and we will miss him greatly.

He was my PSRL lab head in the early 1990's and was so impactful to me. A truly outstanding chemist and a leader who maximized the creativity of those around him. Most importantly, a man of faith who led by example and encouraged many.

Ted had one of the great laughs I´ve ever experienced. It just welled up inside of him and especially behind his eyes until it swept over you making you laugh along with him in shared joy.

Ted was an amazing scientist, a selfless leader, keen intellect, and always had an infectious laugh and smile. Ted left an everlasting mark on Eastman, the Kingsport community, and the larger group who he so he kindly mentored. His spirit and legacy will forever live in our hearts. He has truly shaped my life during our relatively short time on the B-150 third floor!
