CHURCH HILL - Barbara Ella Scism Dobbs, age 90, of Church Hill, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2026 at Holston Valley Community Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Barbara was born to Frank and Karlie Scism on April 5, 1935. She married Donald Dobbs on March 15, 1952. She was a cafeteria worker at McPheeter's Bend Elementary School and Church Hill Elementary School for several years, Barbara was a faithful servant of God to her last breath, dedicating her life to leading others to Christ through her unwavering faith and acts of service. She was a prayer warrior and a pillar in her community. Barbara was the oldest member of McPheeter's Bend Missionary Baptist Church and taught Bible School for over 40 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband of 63 years, Donald Dobbs; son, Franklin Dobbs; sister-in-law, Kathy Angel

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Glenda and husband, Dewey Crigger, Kay and husband Russ Schmitt, Donna Frazier; grandchildren, Mikey and wife Missy Crigger, Chad (Chaddy Boy) Crigger, Whitney Frazier, Dylan and wife Abby Frazier, Karley Dobbs and Zack Brewer, Kendra Dobbs and Bradshaw; great-grandchildren, Lauren Anderson and husband Matt, Maddox Frazier, Landon and Spencer Crigger, Atlee Bradshaw; brother, Dana and wife Janice Scism; sister-in-law, Pat and husband Jerry Nelson; and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and extended family.

The family of Barbara wishes to extend their sincere thanks to her doctors, nurses, and especially the emergency staff at Holston Valley Community Hospital.

Visitation hours will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Friday, March 13, 2026 at McPheeters Bend Missionary Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm with Dr. Larry Parrott officiating.

Graveside service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2026 at 11:00 am at McPheeter's Bend Community Cemetery. Anyone who wishes to follow in the funeral procession is asked to meet at Christian-Sells Funeral Home by 10:00 am Saturday.

Pallbearers will be Chad Crigger, Mikey Crigger, Dylan Frazier, Marty Scism, Nathan Scism, Aaron Bradshaw, Ethan Roberts, Johnny Love, and Harold Kincheloe. Honorary pallbearers will be David Kincheloe, Dewey Crigger, Russ Schmitt, and Harold Patterson.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to McPheeter's Bend Community Cemetery fund.
