Deborah Meade Obituary

Deborah "Debbie" Sue Meade August 6, 1952 - August 28, 2024

ABINGDON, VA - Deborah "Debbie" Sue Meade, age 72, of Abingdon, VA, passed away Wednesday, August 28, 2024, after a very long illness.

Debbie was born August 6, 1952 and was the daughter of the late Harold and Magdalene Meade of Blountville, TN. Both sides of her families have roots in Russell and Scott Counties of Virginia. Debbie graduated from Central High School and Radford College. In her teen years, Debbie worked as a fashion model in St. Louis, MO. Following graduation from college, Debbie was a schoolteacher and worked for the Harold Meade Company. Debbie was an exceptionally good tennis player and very athletic. She was a devout Christian and often openly professed her love for Jesus. May she rest in peace.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by one brother, who passed recently, Larry Meade (Paulette Dougherty).

Survivors include one sister, Billie Jo Gilliam (Penman Gilliam) of Johnson City, TN; one brother, Rickie Meade (Andrea Carmody-Meade); and nine nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.

No services are scheduled at this time, however the family plans on having Celebration of Life Services, to be announced, at a later date.

East Lawn Funeral Home of Kingsport, TN is honored to serve the family of Deborah "Debbie" Sue Meade.
