WISE, VA - Dolores Catherine Polick, 92 years old, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at The Laurels Retirement and Assisted Living.
Dolores was one of eleven children and spent her life in Meriden, Connecticut, where she met and married the "love of her life," Edward, sixty-eight years ago. They attended St. Rose Catholic Church. Together they raised two daughters, traveled the world, and were devoted to a healthy, active, Christian lifestyle.
Dolores was a devote Catholic who understood and believed in the power of prayer. She and Ed would share daily prayer time. She resided for four years at the Laurels Retirement and Assisted Living Facility where she was truly loved and cared for. Her end-of-life care givers were exceptional and appreciated, and the family would like to thank Haley, Betty, Ann, Shirley, and Rilee, as well as the staff of Hospice and Palliative Care, Norton, Va. The family also is indebted to the staff of the Laurels, who were her angels on Earth. It is sad, yet beautiful, that there are too many to name.
Dolores is preceded in death by her parents, William and Julia (Hvozda) Bilyak; sisters, Helen, Sue, Julia, Mary and Ann and brothers, Mike, George and William.
Dolores is survived by her loving husband, Edward Polick; daughters, Debbie Holyfield (Phillip) of Big Stone Gap, VA and Maribeth Polick of Big Stone Gap, Va.; sister, Vera Robinson of Wallingford, CT; sisters-in-law, Dottie Polick, and Gloria Polick; brother-in-law, John Polick; grandchildren, Anna and Brett Holyfield; four great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Big Stone Gap, Va., at 3:00pm on Tuesday, March 12, 2024 with Father Ritchie Sarabia officiating.
She will be interred at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery, at Mountain Home Tn.
