WISE, VA - Edward Robert Polick, 95 years old, passed away into the arms of the Lord on Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at The Laurels Retirement and Assisted Living.
Edward was a proud Marine at the end of WWII. He married the love of his life, Dolores in 1955 and made a career at Smith's Transfer Trucking Company. Edward was of the Catholic faith and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Faith, family, and fun were the focus of his life. The proud father of two girls, life was full of ballgames, travel and education. He painted and whittled; he loved the Giants and Yankees. During his later years, he became a UT fan.
Ed enjoyed the last years of his life at the Laurels Retirement and Assisted Living. He had many there who spoiled him and the Polick family thanks them all. He was blessed. A special thank you goes to Haley and Shirley, his caregivers, who made every day better.
Edward was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dolores Catherine (Bilyak) Polick; brother, Robert Polick, and his parents, John and Mary (Shogan) Polick.
Ed is survived by his daughters, Debbie Holyfield (Phillip) of Big Stone Gap, VA and Maribeth Polick of Big Stone Gap, VA; siblings, Dorothy Polick and John Polick of Meriden, CT; grandchildren, Anna and Brett Holyfield; four great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass we be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Big Stone Gap, Va., at 2:00pm on Tuesday, May 28, 2022 with Father Ritchie Sarabia and Father Tim Drake officiating.
He will be interred at the Mountain Home National Cemetery, in Mountain Home, Tn.
