KINGSPORT - Dorothy Simpson, 93, of Kingsport, entered her heavenly home on Wednesday, March 20, 2024. A force of joy and warmth, Dorothy's spirit was as bright as her smile. She was an accomplished cook, and her culinary creations brought a taste of love to all who were fortunate enough to enjoy them.
Nothing made her happier than tending to her garden and preserving its bounty through canning, creating memories that would last far beyond her time here. Dorothy's sweet tooth was legendary, she was always ready for a delicious treat. Her unwavering devotion to her family and the Sullivan Baptist Church defined her existence, providing her with true love and friendship.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Simpson; parents; daughter, Sharon Diane Patterson; and several brothers and sisters.
Survivors include her son-in-law, Doug Patterson; grandchildren, Ashley Patterson, Amanda Barnett and husband, Michael; great-granddaughter, Evelyn Diane Barnett; siblings, Violet Crawford, Gladys Morrison, Paul Sellers and Jack Sellers; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Monday, March 25, 2024, from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Hamlett-Dobson Funeral Home, Kingsport. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Jeff Strong officiating. Graveside services will follow at East Lawn Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Scotty Simpson, Wayne Simpson, Larry Wright, Tony Simpson, Michael Barnett, and Doug Patterson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sullivan Baptist Church Building Fund, 4152 Maplewood St., Kingsport, TN 37660.
