Millard Andrew Burton

KINGSPORT - Millard Andrew Burton, 98, of Kingsport, went to be with the Lord Thursday, February 19, 2026, at Preston Place.

He was born February 21, 1927, in Kingsport, to the late Thomas Clark and Bertha Ward Burton.

Millard was a loving and devoted son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend.

He was a committed Christian and active member of Saint Luke Methodist Church for eighty-six years.

Millard retired from Holston Defense Corporation as an accountant following thirty-six years of service.

He served on the Sullivan County Equalization Board for thirty-two years.

Millard was the founder and first President of the Dobyns-Bennett High School Slam Dunk Club.

He enjoyed woodworking and artistry.

Millard proudly served in the U.S. Navy as a member of the Greatest Generation during WW II.

In addition to his parents, Millard was preceded in death by his wife, Erma Burton; siblings, Gene and Ralph Burton; Ruth McGrady, and Ethel Lewis.

Those left to cherish Millard's memory are his sons, Rodney Burton (Kathy), and Johnny Burton (Melissa); grandchildren, Kayley Farmer (Jay), Torey Haile (Doug), Bo Burton (Makensey), Logan Burton, John Newley Burton, and Afton Burton; great-grandchildren, Sadie, Luke, and Cole Farmer, Josey and Tilley Haile, and Landrey Burton; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The family will receive friends Monday, February 23, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Saint Luke Methodist Church, 2600 East Center Street, Kingsport, TN 37664.

Celebration of Life Service will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Tim Hodges officiating.

A private family Graveside Service will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saint Luke Methodist Church.

The family extends their sincere gratitude to the staffs of Preston Place, Smoky Mountain Hospice, Adoration Home Health Care, special caregivers; Betty, Haley, Nancy, and Cindy, and the Britt family.
