KINGSPORT - Nancy Ellen Salyer Price, 82, of Kingsport passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 12, 2023. She was born on January 10, 1941 to the late Vince Gilmer Salyer and Mary Alice Cook Salyer. Nancy was born and lived in the Molls Creek Community of Russell County, VA. She attended Castlewood High School. Nancy married Lonnie Brown "Brownie" Price on December 29, 1956. Nancy and Brownie made their home on a farm in Nickelsville, VA and later moved to Kingsport, TN. Nancy was a homemaker and enjoyed raising vegetables in the garden and later flower gardening. She was of the Methodist faith. Nancy taught children's Sunday School at Nickelsville United Methodist Church in the early years and later became a member of Cross Roads Methodist Church in Kingsport.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Brown "Brownie" Price; siblings, Arvil Salyer, Mary Sue Herndon, Paul Salyer, Authur Wayne Salyer, Louise Salyer Osborne; and special niece, Tammy Salyer.
Remaining survivors to mourn her death and carry on her legacy are her daughters, Debra "Debbie" Sue Price of Kingsport, and Shirley Ann Price Dean and husband Michael of San Antonio, TX; grandson, Zachary Dean and wife Andrea of San Antonio, TX; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, November 15, 2023 at Carter-Trent Funeral Home in Kingsport. A funeral service will follow with Rev. Randy Lantz officiating and music provided by her niece, Gail Compton.
A graveside service will follow at Holston View Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank the staff of Orchard View Post Acute Care and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care of their mother.
