COLONIAL HEIGHTS - Roy L. Emory of Colonial Heights passed away on February 20, 2025, at Johnson City Medical Center after a brief illness, surrounded by his family.

Roy was born in Scott County, Tennessee and spent most of his life in the Kingsport area.

After graduating Oneida High School in 1963, he joined the U.S. Air Force and served five years. Most of that time he was stationed at Myrtle Beach Air Force Base where he developed a lifelong love for the beach.

Roy was also a graduate of Steed College with an associate's degree in Transportation.

He worked at Eastman Chemical Company for twenty-nine and a half years, retiring in 1997. In retirement he loved playing golf with the Smith Brothers and enjoyed being their "Honorary Brother." He enjoyed his family, especially his great-granddaughters.

Roy was saved May 1974 at Bethel View Baptist Church.

Roy is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Helen Emory; one sister, Jean Ruths; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Emory, and Janet Emory; and his father-in-law, Will Arch Bledsoe.

Roy is survived by his wife, Patsy Bledsoe Emory; daughter, Leslie Gillette and husband, Joe of Cumming Georgia; grandsons, William Mallet, Brandon Mallet and John Mallet of Lawrenceville Georgia; great- granddaughters, Tybee Mallet and Madylin Mallet, brothers, Robert Emory of Maple Shade New Jersey, and Charles Emory of Oneida, Tennessee as well as several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Oak Hill memorial Park at 12:00 pm, with Rev. Randy Lantz officiating. Pallbearers will be Joe Gillette, Brandon Mallet, John Mallet, Brian Edwards, David Edwards and Lynn Lawson. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 11:50 am.

Honorary pallbearers are Donald Ray Bledsoe, Claude Bledsoe, Jeff Jacobs, and James White.
