CHURCH HILL - Thomas Mose Herron, 91, of Church Hill, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2026. Tom was born on December 20, 1934 in Kingsport, TN to the late Guy and Rosie Head Herron. He served 22 years in the military, beginning his career in the Air Force and retiring from the Army as an air traffic controller. Tom was a member of the Jericho Shrine; he greatly enjoyed serving his community. He was a longtime member of Orebank Free Will Baptist Church where he was saved.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his son, Richard William Herron.
Survivors include his wife of 70 years, Marie Welsh Herron; son, Thomas Wayne Herron; aunt, Mossie Mellons; and cousins, Carolyn Campbell and Paul David Head.
Graveside services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m., at Morning Star Cemetery, Church Hill. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Posts 3/265.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Jericho Shrine Temple, 1100 Jericho Dr., Kingsport, TN 37663.
